Potential TV Deals for Keefe D
While he awaits trial, Duane Davis, better known as Keefe D, the purported suspect in the murder of rap icon Tupac Shakur, reportedly has multiple TV deals lined up to tell his side of the story.
Attorney's Disclosure
On July 21, 2024, Davis' attorney Carl Arnold revealed to the U.S. Sun that he had received a request to compile a list of his efforts on behalf of his client. Arnold said Keefe D could pay his legal bills with the money he made from these TV deals.
Judge Rejects Bond
Any prospective earnings from these transactions, however, have been put on hold after Davis was denied bail by Judge Carli Kierny in June 2024. Judge Kierny was concerned that music manager Cash "Wack 100" Jones, who secured the bail, would be trying to obtain further information about the murder.
Possession of Profit Rights?
Arnold maintained that his client is entitled to compensation for presenting his side of the tale. He asserted that since Keefe D had not yet been found guilty, Judge Kierny has the legal right to stop him from making money off of his story.
Awaiting the Bail Hearing
As of right now, no contracts have been signed, and Arnold is awaiting his client's July 23, 2024, bond hearing. In addition, Arnold called the case a "legacy case" and voiced aspirations for a reality program with a documentary-style structure that would provide the public with further details about the case.
Keefe D's Protection
Months have passed as Keefe D's legal team has refused to acknowledge that the former member of the South Side Compton Crips gang was in Las Vegas on the evening of September 7, 1996, when Tupac Shakur was shot during a drive-by shooting.
Fresh Proof
According to fresh information, Paula Clemons, Keefe's wife, was the name on a reservation made for a hotel at the Monte Carlo Resort that evening. In addition, Orlando Anderson, Keefe's nephew, who was thought to be responsible for the shooting, had another reservation made at the Excalibur Hotel & Casino.
Disclosures and Accusations
According to Keefe D's public admission, he was in the back seat of a Cadillac with Anderson when the rapper and co-founder of Death Row Records, Suge Knight, was shot. In 2008, he made his first admission, claiming that Sean "Diddy" Combs had put out the hit on Tupac and Knight and had promised Davis $1 million in exchange for their murders.
Interviews and Memoirs
Keefe D spoke about supposedly seeing Diddy to discuss the hit in his 2019 novel, Compton Street Legend. He also said that the hit grew personal after some Death Row members allegedly "jumped" his nephew outside a casino.
Apprehension and trial
On September 29, 2023, Keefe D, 61, was taken into custody in relation to the murder of Tupac Shakur. Judge Carli Kierny has rescheduled the trial from its original June 3 date to November 4. At the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas, he is presently awaiting trial.
