For lovers of Pokemon Go, there's exciting news: Popplio will be the main attraction at an event that takes place on Community Day next month. Finally, on Saturday, August 31st, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time, Popplio, the Alolan Water-style starter, will get its turn after Community Day events for Rowlet in January and Litten in March.
Popplio will be more common in the wild during this event, increasing the likelihood that players may come across its Shiny variant. In contrast to Litten, Shiny Popplio stays true to its signature style. Its body turns a little darker shade of blue, and the light blue ruff around its neck turns pale pink. The color changes are more pronounced when it develops into Primarina; only light pink and dark blue remain, and Primarina's hair changes from light blue to gold.
Bonuses for Community Days and Featured Attacks
During the Community Day event, players that evolve Popplio's evolved form, Brionne, will get a Primarina that is capable of using the rare Charged Attack, Hydro Cannon. In trainer battles, this potent move delivers 80 damage; in gyms and raids, it deals 90 damage.
Niantic is releasing Sparkling Aria, a new Charged Attack for Primarina, in addition to Hydro Cannon. With a power of 80 in Trainer Battles and 85 in Gyms and Raids, this move will be available to every Primarina starting on Popplio Community Day. Primarina's move set is more versatile with Sparkling Aria, despite its modest lack of power compared to Hydro Cannon.
Set the 31st of August as a special Community Day event in Pokemon Go, and prepare to battle, evolve, and capture Popplio.
